Making Fashion and Hair Accessible with Hair & Care

fashion show

History was made at this year’s London Fashion Week by Hair & Care who helped create the first ever audio described runway, making fashion and hair more inclusive and accessible at The Sinead O’Dwyer Show!

Hair & Care was founded by International Hairstylist Anna Cofone in 2019. It was set up to educate, empower and inspire blind and low vision women and girls aged 12 to 70 across the UK.

Hair & Care in collaboration with Easydry along with key collaborators Authentic Beauty Concept and Olivia Garden were delighted and proud to be a part of this pioneering initiative.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values

Anna Cofone, founder of Hair & Care, expressed her enthusiasm about our collaboration: “It was so amazing for Hair & Care to partner with Easydry on Sinéad O’Dwyer’s show. All of our core values are beautifully aligned, thank you to all the team for helping to make this collaboration happen.”

For Sinead O’Dwyer’s historic show, Hair & Care invited 3 top influencers ; Lucy Edwards, Claire Sisk and Emily Davison from the blind and low vision community who kept us up to date with commentary and sneak peeks throughout morning with all the preparations backstage and shared their experiences.

The Hair Look: Echoing Confidence and Authenticity

The hair styling at the show was a tribute to the iconic 80’s power woman. The looks were inspired by sculpted, figure-hugging styles, with hair pushed back off the face, creating a stunning visual of confidence, identity, and authenticity. This choice perfectly complemented Sinéad O’Dwyer’s designs, known for their celebration of diverse body types and beauty standards.

Easydry’s Role

Key to achieving these 80’s inspired power woman hair looks, was Anna’s talented AC Team who used amazing Authentic Beauty Concept products, along with brushes and combs from Olivia Garden and our Black Easydry Towels.

The team wet down each model’s hair, and our towels were perfect for absorbing any excess moisture. When needed the towels were also used over the models’ shoulders, catching any stray product during the styling process. Then the models’ hair was detangled, blow dried at the roots to create a smooth and luxurious finish with natural movement, then given a volume boost and the look was shined and defined then catwalk ready!

Sinead O’Dwyer Supervisor AW2024

The show, held on February 16th, was a remarkable example of what happens when creativity and inclusivity intersect. For the first time, attendees with visual impairments could experience a fashion show in real time, thanks to Hair & Care’s audio descriptions of the looks and cast.

This event was special for several reasons. First, it set a precedent for future fashion events to be more inclusive. Second, it highlighted the importance of representation in an industry that has often overlooked it.

Our participation in this event is a testament to Easydry’s commitment to not just environmental sustainability but also social inclusivity. We believe that the beauty and fashion industries should be accessible to everyone, and this event was a step in the right direction.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Anna Cofone and the entire Hair & Care team, Sinéad O’Dwyer, and the British Fashion Council for making this event possible. Let’s continue to break down barriers and create a more inclusive world, one fashion show at a time.
